Benedict Cumberbatch has become synonymous with Sherlock Holmes.
Shooting to fame with his Sherlock role he broke into Hollywood with his roles in The Hobbit and Star Trek.
From a struggling stage actor to an award-winning film and television star, Benedict’s striking looks, commanding stage presence, and warm personality have taken the world by storm.
But who is the man behind the roles?
What struggles and successes have created the man who graces the screen today?
How has a self-confessed ‘hyperactive nightmare’ and ‘tearaway’ of a boy turned into one of the busiest actors of his generation? How has he gone from Shakespeare in the park to multiplexes round the world? What’s his real story? And what’s he going to do next?
In the first major biography of the star Neil Simpson goes back to the actor’s roots to find out.
He finds an unconventional family full of drama and fun. He finds schools where Benedict sat alongside princes - and almost ended up playing princesses in drama class. He finds a man who was determined to pay his dues, learn his craft and bide his time as he found his feet in the cut-throat world of theatre and television. And he traces every step Benedict took on the long, hard road to Hollywood.
This is the real Benedict - unvarnished and close-up.
‘Benedict Cumberbatch Behind The Scenes’ is the one book every Benedict fan will want to read.
“A fascinating biography of one of the world's finest actors'. - Tom Kasey, best-selling author of 'The Lunar Code'.

This was obviously quickly written, probably because they wanted to get it out before the Star Trek movie came out. It is also obvious it was written for a much younger reader! (Tweenie, perhaps!) It has no feel of any major contribution from Cumberbatch himself, which is too bad. There are a couple of other better sources out there that give a lot more detail and get a lot more input from Cumberbatch and some of the people in his life. It was pretty basic, but for someone who doesn't read interviews or watch a lot of television, it gives a cursory glimpse into his history and acting credits. One thing which might have been a plus would have been more pictures, perhaps some poster images from different films or TV shows,
Overall, it's little more than an entry from Wikipedia!

Benedict Cumberbatch Behind The Scenes eBook Neil Simpson Reviews
I enjoyed this look at the life of Benedict Cumberbatch. He is a good actor. I hope he keeps Sherlock on the screen for a long time.
Interesting read. Got to see what kind of man he is and the choices he made throughout his life.
As a "cumbercookie" I really wanted to know more about this actor that has shot to stardom in rapid time. He has more acting abilities than some of the American actors and when you see him in an interview you can't help but want more information. This book does give you the history of this wonderful actor, but also reveals that he is human with human flaws. Great Book!
General information on a talented actor. BC has so much untapped potential. He makes a wonderful villain that I believe that Star Trek Into Darkness may just have been the point in the right direction for his career. His voice over work will entertain generations as Richard Attenborough has.
Capitalizing on Benedict Cumberbatch's increased popularity, this slim volume is compiled from previously released press materials and old interviews of Mr. Cumberbatch and those around him. Nothing new is offered, nor is there any evidence that the author has himself interviewed anyone with regards to Mr. Cumberbatch's life or career. A mildly interesting read for someone newly acquainted with the actor's work, but those who are already familiar with this talented, rising star, need not bother.
I thought Benedict Cumberbach did a goof job talking about the ins and outs of filming. He is funny, courageous, and sufficiently nuts to be entertaining.. Oh, and i don't think he looks like an alien, and I do find that heis face is not commonplaced. In fact, I think he is gorgeous. Count me as a dedicated Dumberbitch.
Britain's newest Sherlock is also one of their hardest working actors. performing in not only film and tv but also on radio and on stage. A man with energy and compassion for any role, Benedict has made the best of his life with is only regret being not having a family. But his future is bright and if he works as hard on his social life as he does on his professional he can succeed at anything he puts his mind to. The book tells it all about this rising star.
